Ebooks have been enormously popular on the Internet ever since the early days. These books rarely carry adventure stories or romances though. They are bought and read for the information they hold. They usually are "how to" books, or step by step guides that enable the reader to understand how something is done.

For this reason ebooks usually sell for a lot more than their physical book cousins. Prices of around $50 are common, and for very special information, $100 or so is fairly common too. The profit margin in selling a successful ebook is quite substantial when you consider that after the initial costs there are no other costs. It is reasonably easy to make money selling ebooks.

Ebooks are nothing more than electrons on the screen of a computer. From a single copy you can make as many identical copies as you like at no further cost to you. This contrasts sharply with the world of physical books. Just one successful ebook can be all you need to make very good money.

1. PLR is a good way to start. Find a PLR ebook that is based on a popular title. Match what is currently popular and selling to the ebook, and not the other way around. Don't try to force an ebook you like the look of on the buying public. Know with certainty first that the ebook you intend to sell will in fact sell.

2. Set up your own dedicated website for selling the ebook. If you are really serious about this you may prefer to pay someone to write a dedicated sales page. That will be expensive, but it will most likely pay for itself reasonably quickly.

Alternatively, use the sales page that usually comes with the PLR ebook, but change it to make it a better sales page. You could pay someone experienced to do this and it should cost a lot less than writing a sales page from scratch. Make the sales page as good as it can be. Remember also that any money spent on the sales page is a good investment as this is where the sale is made - or not.

3. Set up the website so that when someone buys the ebook they will be taken to a download page. You will need a payment processor and PayPal is a good easy choice. ClickBank is another good choice. Both of these payment processors have detailed instructions on how to set up the payments and how to set up the download pages.

4. Test the sales process. Set the payment to zero dollars and test it thoroughly. It won't cost you anything and you will be able to streamline anything that doesn't work exactly right. Once the payment process is working right and you are taken to the download page and can easily download the ebook, set the payment back to its full price.

5. Promote the website relentlessly. This is the bit that will make or break the project. Use whatever promotional methods you like. Article marketing works well and is free to do. Keep up heavy site promotion getting good back links in place for at least the first month. By that time you should be making regular sales of your ebook.
