It's easy to make money selling ebooks on Ebay, though perhaps not straightforward. Ebay has a policy that says you can't sell digital only goods in its auction site. This means you have to send the customer a physical product, which can be the ebook burned on to a CD. You can, however, offer an instant download of the ebook as a bonus as long as the CD is sent to the customer as well.
It's also an unfortunate fact that ebooks do not sell for very high prices on Ebay. You can get several thousand ebooks on a single CD for around $5 if you look hard enough. While it may now seem that it isn't worth selling ebooks on Ebay, that isn't so. You just have to think outside of the box and be a little bit creative.
1. Find the ebook, or ebooks that you want to sell on Ebay. They can be PLR, but if so, change them so heavily that they are effectively original. If you do not, someone else will very likely be selling the same book and yours will be virtually worthless.
A better option is to sell an original ebook. If you can write at all, you can write an ebook. It doesn't have to be 100 pages long. A well written ebook of even 10 pages, if it contains good information, can be a good seller.
If you cannot write well, you can pay someone to write the ebook for you. Go to places online like Elance, Freelancer, and Guru and set up a project. People will bid for the project and you can choose the best bid to write the ebook.
2. Don't pack 5,000, or whatever, ebooks on to one CD thinking that volume will attract buyers. It will not. Sell one main ebook with possibly one or two other related ebooks as a bonus. Aim for quality and not volume.
3. As you will have to sell your ebook cheap on Ebay to compete, have it written in such a way that it describes how to do something. The trick of how to make money selling ebooks on Ebay is to direct the readers to tools and resources within the pages of the ebook that they are persuaded to buy.
Try to create the situation whereby they don't have to buy anything in order to succeed, but they will find it a lot easier if they do. This way they can go the free route, and some may do this initially. But others will prefer the easier, but paid for route, and some of those who took the free route will likely come back and opt for the paid route too.
4. If you don't already have an account on Ebay, create one. List the product and start selling it. Price it at around the higher prices on Ebay, but not too high.
5. What should the subject of your ebook be? It could be about how to make money selling ebook on Ebay, though that of course is just one suggestion.
